Letter: County executive urges parental involvement during American Education Week

There is no public investment more important in our society than the delivery of a quality education to our children. Each and every day, outstanding teachers prepare students for an increasingly complex world.

November 13-19 is American Education Week, and I encourage parents, and in many cases, grandparents to take the time to visit your child's classroom.

As a parent, I know that our children are likely to tell us that they will be embarrassed when we show up, but deep down, I am confident that they feel a sense of pride and security when we arrive.

Once again, I want to thank Baltimore County Public Schools Supertintendent Dr. Joe Hairston and the administrators, teachers and school employees for their outstanding work on behalf of the students in Baltimore County.

Working together with involved, caring parents and supportive communities they create magic in our classrooms throughout the year.
