Baltimore County administrator Homan released from hospital

Baltimore County Administrative Officer Fred Homan was released from University of Maryland Hospital today after being treated for a head injury sustained when he fell off a horse Saturday on the NCR Trail.

According to the police report, Homan was taken by helicopter to Maryland Shock Trauma Center Saturday after the fall, which occurred near mile marker 18 on the trail.

The report said Homan and five other riders, none of whom were associates of Homan, rentedhorses from Acres of Hope Farm and were riding together on the trail.

All members of the group were talking while riding in a straight line, with Homan the last rider of the six, the report said. A witness said that she didn't hear or see anything, but when she looked back, saw Homan on the ground.

Homan was wearing a helmet at the time, according to the police report.

County spokeswoman Marjorie Hampson said in a statement that Homan appreciates the concern and good wishes he has received.

County Executive Kevin Kamenetz said that Homan "is expected to make a full and speedy recovery."
