Convict still at-large after walking away from Towson work release site

A convict and former Catonsville resident who walked away from his work release job in Towson was still on the loose as of Monday afternoon

"While a retake warrant was issued for Mark Randolph, he has not, as of now, been returned," Erin Julius said Monday.

Julius is a spokeswoman for the Maryland Division of Correction, which is part of the state's Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.

Randolph, 35, failed to return from his job at a local business in Towson on the afternoon on June 15, according to a statement that day from the Division of Correction.

Randolph was employed in Towson through a work release program that allows convicts who are nearing the end of their sentence to be employed without supervision.

The convicts are expected to return to a Division of Correction facility when not at work, but at about 4:30 p.m. June 15 Randolph failed to appear, the Division of Correction statement said.

A resident of the 1900 block of Rolling Glen Road in Catonsville, Randolph has been convicted of theft, possession of a firearm and other violations back to at least 1997, according to court records.

When he failed to return from work release June 15, Randolph was serving an eight-year sentence for possession of drugs with the intent to distribute, according to the statement.

Randolph is 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs 185 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.

The Maryland Division of Corrections asks anyone with information about Randolph's whereabouts to call 911.
