For 9/11 anniversary, a yard of remembrance in Cockeysville

On Saturday, Sept. 10, in the 10600 block of York Road in Cockeysville, business owner Dr. Dean Kirschner had 2,976 small American flags covering all the grassy-areas of his business property, commemorating the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 9/11.

Kirschner, a resident of Monkton, also posted a 22-foot wide banner that has every name of those who perished in the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks

Kirschner said he had one made for the building he owns that houses his psychotherapy practice and his non-for-profit adoption service — and also had one made for the Lutherville Volunteer Fire Company, which will hang it from the roof of its station.

He said he wanted to do something for years, but had no place to do it, he said, noting he didn't buy the property until January 2010.

"Now that I own the building I couldn't not do it," he said.

"We can't ever make it better," Kirschner said of 9/11, "but we can surely remember."
