County-wide ladies auxiliary installs officers for 2014-2015

The county-wide Ladies Auxiliary members met at Chesapeake City Fire Hall for their quarterly meeting March 13. Officers for 2014-2015 were installed by Nora Ryan of Perryville and Eileen Edelin of Singerly. Beulah "Boots" Sample of Perryville was installed as president, Alyce Jane Lovelace of Rising Sun accepted the office of vice president, Ruth Gonce of North East was installed as secretary, Anne Gibson of Water Witch accepted the office of historian and Daria Brown of Singerly closed the meeting as chaplain. The next meeting will be held at Singerly Fire Hall on June 12.

Much sympathy is extended to the Lupinetti family of Conowingo following the passing of Joan Lupinetti Saturday following a recent hospitalization.


Happy birthday wishes are sent out to Steven Crabbe, Darlington, as he celebrated on March 15 and Jayden Norwood blew out seven candles on the same day.

Butch and Polly Webb of Colora and their crew from Pit Stop Pit Beef catered Sunday's bull and oyster roast at the Port Deposit VFW Post 8185. Proceeds benefited Good Shepherd Church and Good Shepherd School, Perryville.


John Colenda of Perryville and his sister, Gina Colenda Peirce, of Rising Sun enjoyed birthday greetings on March 16. And VFW Post 8185 Ladies Auxiliary President Kathy Heaton, of Conowingo, celebrated her birthday on March 16 as well.

Allen Crabbe added a year to his age on March 17, as did Danny Wayne Reynolds.

Many returns of the day are sent out to a special young lady, Rylee Eastridge, daughter of Rusty and Bonnie Eastridge of Colora, as she blew out 11 candles on March 19. Rylee's grandmother, Pat Eastridge of Conowingo, subtracted a year from her age on March 20.

Pat Bitner, Port, and Jamie Haley both celebrated birthdays on March 20 as well. Jennifer Tennis and Michael Fox were birthday celebrants on March 21.

The Ladies Auxiliary to the Water Witch Fire Company met on Monday at House 2 for the regular monthly meeting. The ladies made their final plans for their basket and bag bingo scheduled for Saturday, March 29 at the VFW Post 8185, 520 Susquehanna River Road, Port Deposit. Since the fire company's annual banquet is set for Saturday, March 22, the ladies finalized the decorations they plan to use on the tables at the VFW.

Knights of Columbus Council 2002 will sponsor a fish fry today (Friday) from 4 to 7 p.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic School, 800 Aiken Ave., Perryville. The Knights will serve fish and shrimp each Friday during lent.

The American Legion Post 194 in Rising Sun provides music every Friday night and "Kruisin Karaoke" is scheduled tonight. DJ Vic Bird will perform on Friday, March 28. Since Sunday is the fourth Sunday of the month, the SAL Squadron 194 will prepare their Sunday shrimp dinner from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Supporting the shrimp dinners lends support to the many programs of SAL Squadron 194.

The Red Knights Motorcycle Club is sponsoring a cash raffle based on the Maryland Daily Lottery – for the entire month of June. The cost of a ticket is $5. The Red Knights just sponsored a fundraiser at the Havre de Grace Pizza Hut. Call me if interested in supporting the fundraising efforts of this firefighter motorcycle club.


Get ready for the first fundraiser for the Ladies Auxiliary to the Water Witch Fire Company as they will sponsor a Basket and Bag Bingo on Saturday, March 29 at the VFW Post 8185, 520 Susquehanna River Road. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the games will begin at 7 p.m. The ticket cost is $15 per person and tickets can be reserved by calling Anne, 410-378-3338.
