Well, summer is over, Labor Day picnics are done, and now on to the pleasant weather of Indian summer.
Ruth Moore, of Rising Sun, one of the Monday morning McDonald's Bingo Gang, celebrated her 95th birthday on Aug. 28. She enjoyed early birthday greetings on Monday, Aug. 26 while playing bingo that morning with her friends at the Rising Sun McDonald's.
Our son, Jason, and his wife, Angie, celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary on Sept. 1.

The officers and board of directors of the Port Deposit Heritage Corp. met on Sept. 4 in the upstairs board room of the Paw Paw Building for their regular monthly meeting. The Paw Paw Museum, 98 North Main Street, will be open on Sunday, Sept. 8 and on Sunday, Sept. 22 from 1 to 5 p.m. each day.

Speedy recovery to Fred Mott, of Conowingo, as he recently underwent bypass surgery at University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore. According to wife Karen, Fred is doing well while recuperating slowly at home.
The Cecil County Relay for Life of North East is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 7 from noon until 8 p.m. at the North East United Methodist Church, 308 S. Main Street. The Port Deposit Heritage Corporation will sponsor a basket and bag bingo on Saturday, Sept. 14, for their big annual fundraiser to support education, restoration and preservation efforts in our community. The bingo will be held at the Port Deposit VFW Post 8185, 520 Susquehanna River Road, and the doors will open at 5:30 with the games beginning at 7 p.m. All the prizes including the door prizes will be Longaberger or Vera Bradley products. The ticket price of $12 includes paper cards for 20 games and a chance on the door prizes. Raffle tickets, extra cards, and refreshments will be available for separate purchase.
