It's finally here! The 2nd Annual Vegas Night fundraiser is set for Saturday at the Port Deposit VFW Post 8185. This event, sponsored by the four District 10 Ladies Auxiliaries, will benefit the VFW's cancer aid and research fund. The post is at 520 Susquehanna River Road and the advance tickets are on sale at $25 per person. Tickets at the door will sell for $30 per person. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Patrons will be treated to dinner, entertainment, door prizes, auctions and more. Co-chairmen Linda Cotton and Kathy Heaton hope to raise more than $5,000 for cancer aid and research. They say: "See you Saturday at the VFW!" Call the canteen, 410-642-9297, for information.

Happy birthday to "Buddy" Hopkins, Bel Air, and to his cousin, Bobby Caffrey, Abrahams Road, as they celebrated their big days on Feb. 8.


And Freida Jack of Rising Sun enjoyed birthday greetings on Feb. 9 while Jason Hughes, formerly of Conowingo, blew out his candles Feb. 11.

Congratulations to our son, Craig, and his bride, Heather, as they celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary Feb. 12.

Jody Hasson celebrated her birthday Feb. 12. And Kelli Eaton added a year to her age Feb. 13.

A Basket Bingo will be held at the American Legion Post 194, 336 E. Main St., Rising Sun, on Sunday. The doors will open at 2 p.m. and the games will start at 2:50 p.m. Tickets are $12 per person. The Port Deposit Presbyterian Church, 44 S. Main St., will open the doors of its fellowship hall again for breakfast on Sunday, March 2 at 9 a.m. The public is invited to enjoy breakfast from 9 to 10 a.m. on the first Sunday of next month.

The Irish Jasper Green, regular performers at Port's Union Hotel, will sing at Prince of Peace Church in Edgewood on Saturday, March 8. The early St. Patrick's Day event will feature an Irish dinner and music from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Ancient Order of Hibernians, St. Kevin Division, and the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Harford County Division 1.

Tickets are on sale for Good Shepherd's annual St. Patrick's Day bull and oyster roast. This event is a local favorite and will be held on Sunday, March 16 at the Port Deposit VFW Post 8185, 520 Susquehanna River Road. Doors will open at noon, food will be served from 1 to 5 p.m. and music will be provided from 2 to 6 p.m. Local caterers Pit Stop will provide the food. Ticket prices were increased for the first time in 10 years to $42 per person and can be reserved by calling Marie at the Parish Office, 410-642-6534. All tickets are sold in advance.

The Ladies Auxiliary to the Water Witch Fire Company plan to meet on Monday, Feb. 17 for their regular monthly meeting at House 2, Woodlawn Station. Planning will get underway for both the fire company banquet on Saturday, March 22 and the ladies' basket bingo fundraiser on the following Saturday, March 29.
