Elected Havre de Grace officials and other qualified city employees will soon have to fill out a form that will ask them to disclose any monetary or material gifts they've received that are more than $50.
City Council President Bill Martin introduced the resolution during Tuesday's council meeting.
He explained that the form is a set of five questions that people who run for office, are contracted by the city or other qualifying employees will need to fill out.
Each question asks the person to disclose the names and monetary amounts of any gifts they may have received in the previous calendar year from anyone employed by, has a contract with, does business with or is regulated by the City of Havre de Grace, as well as a person who has a relationship with the mayor or any council member.
Martin explained that such disclosures are included in the city's existing ethics code and has been working under "implied enforcement." The form, he continued, would give the city "something to enforce."
City Attorney Paul Ishak clarified that the ethics commission and board of election supervisors both unanimously approved the form on Feb. 15, which was necessary for the resolution to move onto the council.
The city council, too, unanimously approved the resolution.
