The Perryville High School golf team won the District VII team golf championship for Class 1A-2A teams Tuesday at the district tournament held at Ruggles Golf Course on APG.
The Panthers scored 338 to nip Patterson Mill for the team title. The Huskies shot 340 and Rising Sun was a close third with 345.
Danny Geiger shot the Panthers' best score, a 79, while Corey Hahn had the Panthers second best round with an 82. Panthers freshman Tyler Pollitt came up big with an 83 and Nikki Leonard shot 94 to round out the Panthers team scoring.
Jonathan Eldreth also played, shooting 98, which was dropped from the team total. Four player scores counted toward the team score. Ali Jones played as a single, shooting 99, eight strokes off the qualifying score to advance to the state tourney.
The Perryville team will play in the Maryland State Tournament, set for Oct. 25 and 26 at the University of Maryland Golf Course.
Aberdeen, meanwhile, participating in the 3A-4A team battle, scored 406, 100 points behind team champion Bel Air's 306. Bel Air also had the individual male champion, Matt Hottman, who shot an even par round of 70 to win by two strokes over Patterson Mill's Eric Langrehr.
Fallston's Brittany Kemen was the female champion, finishing with 86.
Hunter Bachman paced Aberdeen with a round of 81, while Bryan Ensor shot 92. Other Aberdeen scores were Zack Litsch, 96, Alex Will-Cole, 138, and Peter Sheu, 137.
Havre de Grace had just three players, therefore having an incomplete team score. The Warriors who played were Sam Werner, 111, Kanyon Wainwright, 139, and Tommy Butler, 137.
