Dublin News: Guitar lessons and tutoring available at the Wilson Center

Guitar lessons for beginners and advanced players of all ages ARE available at the Wilson Center. Instructor Mark Galicki is an accomplished guitarist with 36 years of experience. Mark also plays in a local Christian rock band that has performed in venues in both Maryland and Pennsylvania. Hourly and group rates are available. Tutoring is also available at the Wilson Center. The Wilson Ministry Center is offering private tutoring sessions this summer and during the upcoming school year. Amanda Petty, a member of the child care staff and a recent college graduate, will provide tutoring sessions to area children of all ages at the center. The Wilson Center Art Show will be held Friday, Sept. 7 from 6 to 9 p.m. with live music, Saturday, Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 9 from noon to 5 p.m. Three photos must be submitted with an entry fee of $15. For more information, call Nancy, 410-457-4767.

There will be not meeting of the Dublin/Darlington Community Council in August but meetings will resume Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Conowingo Visitors Center.

The Darlington Lions Club and the Darlington United Methodist Church are joining to host their annual chicken barbecue dinner on Saturday, Aug. 25 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Darlington volunteer Fire Company social hall. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children's portions. The meal includes half of a barbecue chicken, homemade potato salad and coleslaw, green beans, roll and butter, coffee, iced tea and dessert. Carry-out orders will be available for purchase. Deer Creek Friends Meeting will host an Afternoon English Tea for Heifer International on Saturday, Aug. 25 at 2:30 p.m. at the Meeting House. Tickets are $15 which will include delicious English tea, an assortment of sandwiches and a decadent selection of sweet and savory home baked goodies.
