What is summer without the free summer concerts? At Aberdeen's Festival Park another summer season will begin on June 19 at 7 p.m.

These concerts will be held every Tuesday evening through Aug. 21. They are sponsored by the Aberdeen Board of Parks and Recreation, and conveniently located downtown, at the park off Howard Street.

Starting off on June 19 will be the Mudbugs, an acoustic Folk and Roots Rock group with New Orleans Zydeco and blues influences. Kraig Greff and Chris Huntington, core members of the East Coast band, The Crawdaddies. Looking for an engaging live show, this will be it!

On June 26 the Retro Rockets will perform. This is a dance band that will bring back memories of the '40s, '50s and '60s, a wonderful blend of rock and roll and smooth ballads. This will be an opportunity to enjoy the music of Chuck Berry, Etta James, Roy Orbinson, the Temptations, the Drifters and many others.

July 3 will see and hear Eileen the Singer. "Simply Streisand" sings to recorded background musical tracks, recalling Streisand's great numbers. Eileen has a voice that is powerful enough to bring back those tunes.

On July 10, Across the Track Bluegrass will provide three lead singers based out of Harford county. For the past five years they have entertained audiences in Maryland, Delaware and surrounding states.

Tom Gould Jazz Experiment will perform on July 17. This group started as a weekly jam session of friends consisting of three guitarists and an upright bass player. Their styles are completely different, so it will be interesting to listen and to appreciate.

Three Bats in the Attic will come back to Aberdeen again on July 24. They are three long-time Harford Countians who enjoy folk music that they grew up with, and love to tell a story, or so.

On July 31, Richard Blane's Rock N' Blues Revue, a one-man show, will perform a wide selection of tunes from the past 50,s, 60's and 70's. Want to hear Elvis, Conway Twitty, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino, Charlie Rich, Muddy Waters and others? This will be the music to hear!

Paul Howshall Trio will perform on Aug. 7 with trumpeter/vocalist and Havre de Grace resident Paul Howshall. The group consists of Paul on trumpet and vocals, Phil Ravita on bass, and Phil Heiliger on piano. All three players are accomplished musicians and teachers, offering a easy listening jazz setting recalling the '50s jazz clubs.

On Aug. 14 the Swinging Swamis will entertain with an eclectic group of jazz and world rhythms. They will play a wide range of popular, as well as lesser-known music. There will be Jazz-Latin-Rock and Roll-Soul, ranging from the 1930s' jazz to 1970s' funk, and a lot in between.

Ray Owens will perform on Aug. 21, the last concert of the season. This will be a chance to take a trip down memory lane, and listen to sentimental tunes. There will be sing-alongs, novelty songs, and show tune and many old favorites.

So get ready for a wonderful way to spend a restful and enjoyable evening every Tuesday! Refreshment will be available for purchase at Festival Park. In the event of inclement weather, performances will be held at Aberdeen Middle School in the Multi-Purpose Room.
