Proceeds benefit the Fisher House, "a home away from home" for military families that enables them to be close to a loved one during hospitalization for a service-related illness, disease or injury.

Sept. 12 marks the Maryland state holiday of Defender's Day when Baltimoreans defended the city from British attack in the War of 1812; the bicentennial celebrated nationwide. British Adm. Alexander Cochrane and Gen. Robert Ross landed troops at Fort Howard and the Battle of North Point ensued (1814). Repulsed, the British Navy sailed to Fort McHenry where the bombardment and heroic American defense resulted in Francis Scott Key penning the famous "Star Spangled Banner," our national anthem. That's something to be proud of.
