More than 120 members and friends of the Past Appointed Grand Officers Club (PAGO) met for their fall meeting at Frederick Chapter 79 Order of the Eastern Star. This is the meeting where the club welcomes the recently named past appointed grand officers as members of the club.
The new members in attendance were Sister Elaine Niemeyer, Past Grand Chaplain; Sister Judy Birckhead, Past Grand Marshal; Sister Toby Harvie, Past Grand Adah; Sister Beverly Geisler, Past Grand Ruth; Sister Loretta Donaldson, Past Grand Electa; and I, Past Grand Martha. Sister Jean Chance, Past Grand Matron, was also acknowledged as a past appointed grand officer this past year, but she was already a member of the club, serving as a past grand officer a few years back.
Junior Past Grand Matron Sister Debbie Hribar was pleased that so many of her grand family members were in attendance and were recognized as past appointed grand Officers. The Worthy Grand Matron Sister Bette Bowen extended greetings to all those in attendance. Our Worthy Grand Patron Brother Bill Gunn was unable to attend but sent greetings.
This being election of officers we are pleased to announce the new corps of officers for the ensuing year will be Sister Phyllis Johnston, president; Brother William Sanner, vice president; and Sister Connie Buck, secretary/treasurer. The members of Frederick Chapter prepared a beautiful luncheon of fried chicken, roast beef and gravy, mashed potatoes, lima beans, stewed tomatoes and cole slaw. A variety of homemade pies were served with a side of vanilla ice cream. Sister Beverly Pazack, the outgoing president, thanked everyone for coming and congratulated the newly elected officers. The Past Appointed Grand Officers Club was formed by Sister Marianne Lilley, Past Grand Matron 1984-1985. The club has been going strong ever since. Sister Marianne once resided in Perryville and is a Florida resident. Local members of PAGO from Havre de Grace Chapter 27 Order of the Eastern Star in attendance were Sisters Carolyn Mathias, Diane Smith, Louise Fagan and I, and Brother Ron Mathias. Also attending were Havre de Grace guests, including my husband, Brother Roger A. Southall Sr., and Sister Aileen Squires. Rosalie Monath from Victory Chapter 40 in Aberdeen was also in attendance.
Congratulations to Jimmy and Lexa Roland on the birth of their baby boy, Silas Cooper Roland, on Oct. 30. He weighed in at 10 pounds. even. Also congrats to the paternal grandparents, Jim and Joanne Roland.
Basket Bingo is Friday, Nov. 15 at the American Legion in Aberdeen. This event is sponsored by the Aberdeen High PTSA. Doors open at 6 p.m. with early bird at 6:50 and regular bingo starts at 7 p.m. Cost is $12 per ticket, $5 for extras. Tickets available by calling Brenda Conjour, 410-273-7332. Calling all crafter to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Aberdeen, where they will hold a holiday bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 7. The bazaar will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you are interested in selling your crafts call Becky at the St. Paul's office, 410-272-3111.
St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Aberdeen is pleased to announce a Christmas Concert by the world renowned singer-songwriter Charlie Zahm on Saturday, Dec. 7 starting at 7 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults. All aboard the Perryville Railroad Museum in the MARC train station. The museum is open on Sundays from noon until 4 p.m. Admission is free. They have a working HO model layout of the Perryville WYE, numerous railroad artifacts on display, railroad history literature available and a photo gallery of the Pensy, B&O Railroad and other historical pictures. Come on down and see them. All aboard.
A variety quarter auction will be held Nov. 22 to benefit St. Paul's Women's Spring Retreat.
