Southall family welcomes baby boy to the world Feb. 10

Welcome to the world to our new grandson, Caden Jacob Southall, who was born on Monday, Feb. 10 at 8:20 p.m. He was 8 pounds, 3 ounces and 21 ¼ inches (he weighed the same as his daddy did back in 1977).

Caden was born at Trident Medical Center in Charleston, S.C. He is the son of Roger and Sarah Southall. Roger and I and Beth Maira of Cary, N.C., are the proud grandparents. His great-grandparents are Herbert and Mary Lou Southall from Havre de Grace and Louise Iles and Kathryn Maira from Rochester, N.Y. He is the nephew of Ruth and Karl Ventela, Scott Maira and Kevin and Erica Maira, and the cousin of Hannah Ventela.

All of us grandparents were in Charleston for Caden's birth. We were able to see him about an hour after he was born. When we entered the birthing suite he was getting a bath. He has a very good set of lungs. He was letting the nurse know how he felt about that bath.

Caden is a beautiful baby boy and has a head full of dark hair. He looks like both of his parents. Each day his looks change and he may look more like his mommy then the next day look more like his daddy. His cousin, Hannah, told her mommy to buy a ticket so she can see Caden. At 3 years of old, Hannah has more airline miles than most experienced flyers. Always ready to get on an airplane.

Caden is adjusting to his new life. Mommy and daddy say they are getting him on a schedule but I am afraid to say Caden is getting them on a schedule. Congratulations to our son, Roger, and his wife, Sarah, on their beautiful baby boy. Nana, Pop Pop, Grandma, Granddad, Aunts Ruthie and Erica, Uncles Karl, Scott and Kevin and cousin Hannah as well as the Caden's great-grandfather, Pop Pop Southall, and great-grandmothers Mary Lou, Louise and Kathryn, love you very much. Welcome to the family. What a wonderful and beautiful addition.
