Perryville Little League all-stars drop first regional softball game, 1-0

The Perryville Little League softball all-stars dropped their first game in the East Region Tournament, Friday in Bristol, Conn.

Perryville was shutout 1-0 by New York, which scored the game's lone run in the top of the third inning.

New York's Jamie del Rosario worked a leadoff walk from reliever Emily Phillips and came around to score on a two-out RBI single by Sarah Herskowitz.

New York pitcher Sarah Brauer limited the Perryville hitters to just two hits, while striking out nine. Brauer did not walk a batter.

Kaitlyn Griffin had both hits for Perryville.

Phillips suffered the loss in two innings of work. She allowed two hits, walked two and struck out one. Virginia Lewis started and pitched two scoreless innings. Lewis allowed one hit, walked one and struck out one. Lydia Hill also pitched two scoreless innings, allowing one hit, walking two and striking out one.

Perryville will be back in action Saturday against Pennsylvania, a 11-1 winner over Delaware in a game played earlier Friday. Game time is 1 p.m. at Leon J. Breen Field.
