The sixth annual Hereford Parade saw a smaller-than-usual crowd and fewer floats and marchers, but those who attended the hometown event enjoyed a patriotic day followed by a spectacular fireworks display.
The parade, originally scheduled for July 2, was moved to July 10 so it wouldn't interfere with other nearby parades and fireworks.
Before the parade, activities were set up in two locations along York Road. Vendors, kids' games, food and music gave people plenty to do while waiting for the parade.
People had chairs lined up along Mt. Carmel and York roads long before the parade started at 6 p.m. and made its way from the State Highway Administration to Hereford High School.
The units included North County fire engines and ambulances, antique cars and fire engines, and new and antique farm equipment.
Floats were made by local churches and schools, Pioneer Pub's Ravens Roost, Cub Scouts, Hereford High School Pep Band, Hereford Middle School Steel Drum Band, and high school theater students.
This year's parade honored firefighters, emergency medical personnel and police officers.
