'Soup for All' offered at at Hereford United Methodist Church

Hereford United Methodist Church will offer "Soup for All" to those in need on the last Thursday of each month from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The next time the soup will be offered will be June 28.

Volunteers began ladling up "Soup for All" in February, said Karen Lebo, who heads up the project.

She said the original intent was to offer soup, bread and fellowship inside the church's Family Life Center, but many people couldn't stay, so they started serving soup to go.

Volunteers now fill quart Mason jars with homemade soup for people in need. The idea is to get those same jars back the next month for reuse.

Most months, "Soup For All" gives away between 30 and 40 quarts, Lebo said.

There is no need to sign up ahead of time, although there is a limited amount of soup made each month. The next few soup days are June 28, July 26 and Aug. 30.

Hereford United Methodist Church is located at the corner of York and Monkton roads.
