Public input sought on Hess Road bridge replacement

A one-lane bridge that spans Baltimore and Harford counties in Monkton will be the subject of a public input meeting on Oct. 11 at 6 p.m. in the Veronica "Roni" Chenowith Activity Center in Fallston.

The bridge on Hess Road that crosses the Little Gunpowder Falls has been scheduled for replacement. At the meeting, community members will hear about the bridge's current structural conditions, design goals, traffic volumes and various alignment considerations.

The cost of the bridge will be split between both counties but managed by Harford County, since Baltimore County is managing the renovation of the historic Jericho Road bridge over Little Gunpowder Falls in 2012.

The Chenowith Activity Center is located at 1707 Fallston Road. For more details, call Harford County Department of Public Works at 410-638-3509.
