Broom’s Bloom Dairy has the charming look and feel of a Norman Rockwell illustration. But it’s no relic. With an emphasis on locally produced, organic ingredients, the restaurant’s menu is completely current. Creative ice cream flavors — the chocolate-cookies-and-cream concoction called “dirt” is a favorite — will wow even the most jaded 21st-century kids.
The dairy, which opened in 1997, is located on a farm that dates back to the 18th century; its owners, the Dallam family, have farmed the land for a whopping nine generations.
And more than one generation of customers comes to Broom’s Bloom screaming for ice cream.
“Adults come in for their favorite flavor,” says Kate Dallam. “Butter pecan is a big one. And we give out samples. That’s a big thing for adults. They like to sample more than the kids!”
