Listen to the sounds of the '60s, '70s, Motown and disco eras played by the Winstons, Fri., June 24, 7-9 p.m. at Granville Gude Park, 8300 Mulberry St. This is the first performance in the Concert in the Park summer series, sponsored by the Laurel Department of Parks and Recreation. Oracle Band opens the Montpelier summer concert series Fri., June 24, 7:30-9:30 p.m., outdoors on the grounds of Montpelier Mansion, 9650 Muirkirk Road. The band plays classic hits from the '40s to today. Bring a blanket or chair for seats. No tickets or reservations needed. Sponsored by South Laurel Recreation Council volunteers. Watch and fly scale airplanes at the Airplanes of the World VII air show, Sat., June 25, at Konterra Model Air Park, 6050 Van Dusen Road. Sponsored by Free State Aeromodelers, this is a scale-model fly-in and air show. Registration begins 7:30 a.m.; any scale model airplane or helicopter is welcome. Landing fee is $10 for pilots, no charge for spectators. If you are not a pilot, fly a trainer airplane with an instructor or on a simulator. Learn about life in the 1700s with hands-on activities at Family Fun Day, Sun., June 26, 4-7 p.m., at Montpelier Mansion, 9650 Muirkirk Road. Explore the boxwood maze and the flower and herb gardens, or take a free tour of the mansion. Bring you own picnic for outdoor eating; no eating facilities are available inside the mansion.
