The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the local area, including Laurel, which goes into effect at 3 p.m. Friday.
According to the NWS, the strongest winds could be in the late afternoon and evening, with winds of 2o to 30 miles per hour and gusts up to 55 mph. The wind could affect drivers, especially those driving tractor trailers and large trucks.
Laurel city officials released a statement reminding residents to bring inside loose items in their yards, to help minimize possible damage.
The advisory will be in effect until midnight Friday.
