Jaimy Wenhold, 11-12 fly, breast, IM; was the only triple winner; while Jack Verbrugge, 11-12 fly, IM, was the only double winner for Silver Spring, who dropped to 1-2 on the season with the loss.
The West Laurel Wahoos suffered their second straight loss this week, losing to Greenbelt Municipal Swim Team, 294-285, in Division B.
Wahoos triple winners were Danielle Calabrese, 11-12 fly, free, IM; Max Bagileo, U-8 free, breast, back; and Eric Brothman, 15-18 fly, back IM. Double winners were Billy Rosenberg, 11-12 free, back; and Jessica Sweitzer, 15-18 free, IM.
Despite the loss, Brothman, a 2010 DeMatha graduate who has competed with the Wahoos since age 12, thinks the team is headed in the right direction after having losing seasons in previous years.
"Last couple years, our team has seen defeat after defeat, and we are now just starting to get back to where we can hold our own within the division," he said. "Due to the core of our team being with our younger, more inexperienced swimmers, we need only to wait for them to get more experience under their belts before we will be able to emerge as a leader in Division B.
"With Coach Dave (Floyd) and Coach Matt (Harris) leading the way, I am positive that it will happen soon," Brothman added.
