The next Coffee for Seniors with the police will be, Thursday, Nov. 3, at 1 p.m. These coffees will now take place at the new Laurel-Beltsville Senior Activity Center located at 7120 Contee Road, just behind Laurel Regional Hospital.

The topic of the meeting is What happens when you call 911? This is an important topic for all community members as well as for our seniors.

These meetings also provide the opportunity to speak with our community police and to learn what services they provide in addition to maintaining law and order.

The Motor Vehicle Administration now has a feature through which Maryland drivers can add up to three emergency contacts to driver's license records. The feature, which can be accessed only by law enforcement personnel, provides police and/or emergency medical technicians with the names and numbers of persons who should be called if an accident occurs in which the injured person is unable to provide that information directly. The feature can be accessed through the MVA website http://www.mva.maryland.gov. Click on "emergency contact."

Hope we all continue to enjoy this glorious fall weather. Just think — no earthquakes, hurricanes, floods — at least for right now. Happy pumpkin picking season to all our South Laurel/Montpelier friends!
