Russett: Anniversary wishes and appreciation conveyed to resident volunteers

"The Stars Are Out Tonight" was the theme at Russett's ninth-annual Homeowner Volunteer Appreciation Night Jan. 28.

Russett is also celebrating its 20th anniversary (1992-2012) and that additional theme kicked off this year's event.

For the event, Russett's community center was decorated in all its splendor in a color theme of silver and eggplant.

Classic rock dance music by the five-piece band Shake It Up filled the halls of the community center and brought on the inspiration for many to dance. A full three-course dinner of entree choices of steak, shrimp or chicken made for a substantial meal as did the custom-made Russett 20th anniversary cake, which was served for dessert by Absolutely Perfect Caterers.

My husband, Tim Reyburn, the Russett Community Association vice president, opened up the evening's proceedings and introduced RCA's 2012 president, Rob Newman, who took the podium and delivered acknowledgments to all Russett volunteers who serve on the various committees, ranging from neighborhood committees and board advisory committees right on up to fellow board members. RCA's official 2012 community leaders and board of directors, in addition to Rob and Tim, include Antonio Downing, Linda Genovese, Joe Franco, Colin Sandy and MJ Praetorius.

The solid and stable core of 100 plus volunteers is of great value to Russett. The cooperation of volunteer homeowners, democracy and majority rule keeps the community beautiful, fiscally sound and a great place to live. Another key factor in the success of the community is on-site property management staff who have helped to achieve and maintain the board-proven fiduciary duties over the past nine years.

Homeowner volunteers donate countless hours of hard work, skills, support and dedication to our community and this event was a way to say, "thank you" and show appreciation and gratitude for their efforts. Congratulations to everyone!
