Woman, 77, killed in workplace accident at Laurel printing company

A 77-year-old woman was killed Jan. 25 in West Laurel in what police are describing as a workplace accident.

The woman, whose name was not immediately available, died at Westland Printers in the 14000 block of Sweitzer Lane after the door on a piece of equipment flew open and struck her, according to Cpl. Henry Tippett, spokesman for thePrince George's CountyPolice Department.

Rescuers were called at about 10:08 a.m. and arrived to find the woman severely injured. She was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead, Tippett said.

"We went there to see if there was any type of crime scene. Everything appeared to be accidental," he said.

He did not anticipate police filing any criminal charges in the woman's death.
