Class offers training on what to do with pets in disasters

A free class being held in Laurel will help pet owners know what to expect when their animals require evacuation and shelter during emergencies.

"Household Pets and Service Animals in Disasters: An Introduction to Evacuation and Emergency Sheltering," offered by the University of Illinois Center for Public Safety and Justice, will be held Wednesday, Aug. 3 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Laurel Municipal Center, 8103 Sandy Spring Road.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and lunch will be provided.
