Laurel Police looking for man in robbery of Main Street BB&T branch

Laurel Police are searching for a man who was caught in a photo as he robbed the BB&T on Main Street Monday.

Police said that just before 9:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12, a man with a cross-shoulder bag and wearing a Baltimore Orioles baseball cap, sunglasses and possibly a brown wig entered the Branch Banking & Trust at 380 Main St., and gave a teller a note demanding money.

Laurel City spokesman James Collins said the man did not get any money because the teller activated an alarm as soon as she read the note.

"He indicated he had a weapon, but none was displayed," Collins said.

Police did not know the direction the man fled from the bank.

Anyone with information on the suspect or the investigation can call Bradley DiPietro of the Laurel Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at 301-498-8002.
