A team of four students from Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School participated in the Project Citizen program, a curricular program that promotes competent and responsible participation in local and state government. The team of students — Amanda Bentil, Georgina Gabbidion, Anthony Payton and Trevor Savoy — was one of eight teams statewide to have the opportunity to present a project "policy" to state lawmakers.
Comprised of students from the school's Green Club, the team developed a project policy that introduced single-stream recycling to public schools. As part of their project, the students conducted surveys in the community and at school, graphed the data, wrote responses based on their research and findings, and presented all the information to state leaders in Annapolis. During the event, the team was joined by Green Club sponsor Rebecca Adams and the school's Social Studies Department Chair, LaShelle Ferguson.
