The City Council will hold its next meeting on Monday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. in the council chambers at the Laurel Municipal Center, 8103 Sandy Spring Road.
The agenda posted on the city's website includes a second public hearing, and possible action, on a resolution to declare the former Laurel Police Department building at 350 Municipal Square, and the grounds, as surplus property. The city has proposed selling he property to developers Klingbeil Capital Management, a real estate investment and management firm based in Centreville, Va., that has experience renovating and rehabilitating properties into apartment buildings, according to its website. The resolution before the council would only allow for the sale of the property to KCM; any specific future development plans would need to go through the city's standard planning process.
The agenda also lists a second public hearing with possible action on an ordinance to amend the Laurel City Code so that truck traffic will not be allowed on streets in the Willow Oak Community.
