The City Council held the third public hearing on the proposed annexation of Oaklands Presbyterian Church at its Monday, July 23 meeting, and heard from a church member on development plans.

At the second public hearing, held July 9, a member of the Patuxent Greens board of directors had expressed concerns about the church's reported plans to develop the wooded property adjacent to the neighborhood. At that meeting, Oaklands Presbyterian representative BJ Taylor quelled those concerns by stating the church has no future plans to develop the site.

Taylor, along with other church representatives, attended Monday's meeting to notify the council that a meeting between the Patuxent Greens board and the church has been scheduled for July 30.

The final public hearing on the church's annexation request is scheduled for the council's next meeting on Sept. 10, where council action is anticipated.
