Joseph Fisher, of Laurel, founder and CEO of First Generation College Bound, was recognized July 19 by the Prince George's Community Foundation as one of five graduating LEAD fellows.
LEAD, or Leaders Engaged in Achieving Development, is the foundation's intensive 12-month program in which nonprofit directors participate in executive coaching, a monthly Leader's Circle, management training, technical assistance and a two-day retreat. In addition, the foundation is bringing First Generation College Bound to the notice of potential donors.
First Generation is a 22-year-old program that helps students to be the first in their families to attend college. It has helped more than 1,200 young people to achieve this dream.
