Joan and Louis Pfefferkorn Jr., of West Friendship, announce the marriage of their daughter, Candace Marie Pfefferkorn, to Michel Escande de Messières, son of Susan and the late Olivier de Messières, of Boyds, on May 29, 2011.
The bride, a graduate of Glenelg High School, earned a bachelor's degree in physics and music from Gettysburg College. She is currently working at the National Institutes of Health, in Bethesda. She is conducting biophysical research toward a doctorate in chemical physics from the University of Maryland. She is expected to receive her doctorate this fall.
The groom, a graduate of Richard Montgomery High School, earned a bachelor's degree in physics from Wesleyan University and a Master of Science in elementary education from Drexel University. He is currently working at the University of Maryland where he is conducting biophysical research toward a doctorate in physics. He is expected to receive his doctorate next spring.
The ceremony was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, in Barnesville. The Rev. Paul D. Nguyen, of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, in Bethesda, officiated. A reception followed at the Strong Mansion on Sugarloaf Mountain, in Dickerson.
Kelly Vogelpohl, the sister of the bride, served as the maid of honor. Stéphane de Messières, the brother of the groom, served as the best man. The bridesmaids were Meghan Crain and Lauren Kate Gibson. The groomsmen were Tsvetomir Naydenov and Christopher Pfefferkorn. The ring bearers were Goran Naydenov and Isaac Vogelpohl.
The couple honeymooned in the Great Smokey Mountains.
Hannah and James Graham
Ken and Margie Brown, of Ellicott City, announce the marriage of their daughter, Hannah Brown, to James Graham, son of former Ellicott City residents Dan and Lynne Graham, now of Montrose, Pa., on July 23, 2011.
The bride is a graduate of Centennial High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. She is currently employed as the Coordinator for Christian Formation at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, in Glenwood and an administrative assistant at the Cathedral of the Incarnation, in Baltimore.
The groom is a graduate of Mt. Hebron High School; and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Western Maryland College and a Master of Art from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. He is currently employed as a math teacher at Howard High School.
The ceremony was held at the Cathedral of the Incarnation. The Rev. Flo Ledyard officiated. A reception followed at Martin's West, in Baltimore. Lena Mitchell served as the maid of honor, and Mitchell Amoros served as the man of honor. Jeff Crowe served as the best man.
The couple honeymooned in the Dominican Republic and currently reside in Catonsville.

David and Corine Toomer, of Ellicott City, announce the engagement of their daughter, Davianne Toomer, to Brandon Harris, son of Michael and Carolyn Harris, of Piscataway, N.J.
The bride-to-be is a graduate of Glenelg County School and the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia. She is currently a graduate student at New York University.
The future groom is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently employed as a senior account manager and FX specialist at Bloomberg LP, in New York.
