Weddings & Engagements: County residents tying the knot

Mr. and Mrs. Evan Jones, ofSt. Petersburg, Fla., announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Amanda Lynn Jones, to Dean Bradford Layman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Layman, of Ellicott City.

Mr. and Mrs. Evan Jones, ofSt. Petersburg, Fla., announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Amanda Lynn Jones, to Dean Bradford Layman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Layman, of Ellicott City.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Florida State University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in English. She also received a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from the University of Florida and a Master of Arts in Teaching in secondary English education from Empire State College.

The prospective groom is a graduate of the University of Maryland where he received a Bachelor of Arts in both history and education. He will begin the Masters in School Counseling Program at Indiana University-Purdue University at Fort Wayne in the fall.

The couple met in Brooklyn, N.Y., where they worked as teachers at the same public high school. They relocated to Wabash, Ind., where the couple currently resides in a farmhouse that has been in Jones' family for six generations, in 2011.

A wedding is planned for May 26, 2012, in Wabash.

Jessica Prosen and Ryan Strawcutter

Jessica Prosen, daughter of David and Beverly Prosen, of Columbia, is engaged to be married to Ryan Strawcutter, son of Susan Strawcutter, of Harrisburg, Pa., and Ron Strawcutter, of Tree City, Ga.

The bride-to-be is a 2005 graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She is currently an associate in global banking operations with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.

The prospective groom received a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Mount St. Mary's University in 2004. He is currently an associate in the Internal Audit Department at Constellation Energy.

A wedding is slated for Nov. 17, 2012, at Ceremony at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, with Father Patrick Carrion presiding. Jennifer Prosen Gardner, sister of the bride-to-be, will serve as the maid of honor. Aaron Kerr will serve as the best man.

The reception will be held at 1840s Ballroom, in Baltimore.
