West Friendship's Howard County Antique Farm Machinery Club and the Living Farm Heritage Museum is hosting educational days in October. Mark your calendar for the local and annual holiday bazaar which never fails to delight. The Saint James Holiday Bazaar and Flea Market is set for Nov. 5, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Eight buildings worth of construction and landscaping equipment are part of the loot during the annual Fall Equipment Auction on Oct. 22 at 9 a.m. at the Howard County fairgrounds. Roy Gregory and associates promise something for everyone during this huge sale which includes lawn and garden equipment and machinery, cars, boats, golf carts, snow plows, antique woodworking tools and more.

A bag of candy to share and a flashlight are the only admission requirement for kids and their families during the Shrine of St. Anthony "A Night with the Saints" event on Oct. 31, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The beautiful grounds of the Shrine at 12290 Folly Quarter Road provide the setting for an evening in which kids are asked to come dressed up as their favorite saint or Biblical figure. The evening starts with a 6:30 p.m. Mass, followed by a "meet the Saints" session at 7 p.m. and finishing up with a family bonfire at 8:30 p.m. For questions or to RSVP, call 410-531-2800.

Run, don't walk, to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, on Oct. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m., when the benefit dinner is Italian Night. All proceeds from the family-friendly dinner, go to the St. Andrew's Youth Pilgrimage. Dine in or carry out. The cost is $9 per person or $30 per family, for the delicious meal donated by the chef at Smokin' Hot Grille in Glenwood. St. Andrews is at 2892 Route 97 between Union Chapel Road and the post office in Glenwood.

"Game night is here", said Nancy Janson of St. James United Methodist Church. Bring snacks, friends and your favorite board game or just enjoy the games provided on Oct. 21, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., for family fun. The game night is at the church at 12470 Old Frederick Road (Route 99). All are welcome.

The Hare Raisers 4-H Club utilized a lovely day in September to reach out to the community at the Days End Farm Fall Festival with a hands-on rabbit exhibit in which farm visitors were able to pet, hold and observe the sweet rabbits. The youngest participants could not stop remarking on how soft the fur of a young rabbit is according to club secretary Maoliosa Wilson.

Under the superb tutelage of Amy Syversen, the West Friendship Elementary band musicians of the month include Jerry He, Daniel Warner, Olivia Schwendeman, Quinn Cestone, Adam Fan, Arianna Roman, Serena Venginickal, Heidi Schwaiger, Taryn Manwiller, Avneesh Joshi, Sydney Proper, Tristan Glover and Morgan Swidersky.
