Tickets on sale for Reservoir High's homecoming week spaghetti dinner

School just started but the Reservoir High School Boosters have been busy planning for homecoming week. Mark your calendars for Sept. 17 for the homecoming parade and game. Part of the festivities is the very popular Thursday night spaghetti dinner Sept. 15 from 6 to 8 8 p.m. Teams are encouraged to decorate their tables and everyone is invited. Meals are $5 in advance, $6 that day and are good for takeout or dining in.

The results are in from the Howard County Fair and the North Laurel Leaders did a great job representing our area. Their promotional booth named "Quench Your Thirst With 4-H" won first place and grand champion ribbons and is entered in the State Fair, in Timonium.

Kat Ward won 20 first-place ribbons along with an honorable mention award, total points crafts and total points home environment honors.

Kavita Shroff won champion ribbons for her poetry collection and on her poster about raising ducks plus five other first place ribbons on crafts and clothing exhibits.

Will Sheets received a second-place ribbon on his foam craft and third-place ribbons for his soap and metal crafts.

Grace Beacham took first place and champion ribbons for her vegetable collection display along with three first places on her vegetables.

Imaad Syed won first place and champion ribbons on his entomology and vegetable exhibits and a grand champion on his recycling project plus 23 other first-place ribbons.

Kayleigh Wilson earned first-place ribbons on her paper mache, chocolate chip cookies and refrigerator cookies.

Faith Beacham won first and grand champion ribbons on two of her exhibits and two first-place ribbons on her quilling and okra.

Clover members Patricia Wilson, Brooke Miller and Aaban Syed entered items and received Participation ribbons. Brooke also received an honorable mention award for her mixed media artwork, Officer Club books for 2010; the President's Program planning book, the Secretary's Book and the Historian's Book, were awarded first-place and champion ribbons. The Treasurer's Book received a third-place award.

The North Laurel 4-H program here is very impressive. Maybe you have a child who would enjoy joining. It is open to children ages 5-18 and it is having an open house at Forest Ridge Elementary School in the cafeteria Sept. 9 from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. Email NorthLaurelLeaders@Howard4-H.org for more information.
