Fall Pig Jig at St. Andrew's should be a smokin' good time

There is still time to purchase tickets to the Fall Pig Jig on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 4 to 8 p.m. St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Glenwood will be hosting this event at Tranquility Farm at 4054 Jennings Chapel Road, Brookeville, . This event will feature a pig roast, a live auction, a silent auction, a cash bar with local craft beer and wine and live music from the local band Fat Daddies and the Tenderloins. Tickets are $50 per person with the proceeds benefiting the ministries of St. Andrews and the Grassroots Crisis Intervention to help combat the opioid crisis in Howard County.

St. James United Methodist Church will be sponsoring two free community events on Saturday, Sept. 15. The first event will be a Community Shredding Event from 9 to 11 a.m. rain or shine.

The second event will be a Community Yard Sale from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Yard sale spaces and shredding use are free of charge. Donations are always welcome and accepted and there is plenty of lawn space available for use. If you would like to set up and use lawn space at the church, please call St. James UMC at 410-442-2020.

The Howard County Conservancy in Woodstock will host a roundtable with several experts to reflect on the Ellicott City flooding and the future of this community on Thurs., Sept. 12 from 7 to 9 p.m. This forum will be held by moderator, Ned Tillman, who states the importance of understanding possible remedies to prevent future floodings of Old Ellicott City. A Q&A session will be held and attendees will have the opportunity to speak. This program is free but registration is required at hcconservancy.org
