Congratulations go out to the Marriotts Ridge High School Varsity Cheerleaders as they once again won the county championships for the second time in a row on Monday, Jan. 28.
Hosting the winter competition, MRHS performed a near perfect routine to secure the top spot on its home turf. Senior team captains, Olivia Cassidy, Lauren Cumberland, Delaney Haggins and Mia Krakovsky all have the same sentiment that securing their win came from hard work and determination.
“We worked extremely hard everyday at practice to hold up the title of county champions! I have never been more proud of my team for hitting a near flawless routine,” states Cassidy.
Cumberland adds, “with losing three girls ls to all-star cheer and some from injuries, we had to be innovative and come up with new ideas to stand out compared to the other teams. I believe that we achieved this goal and it ultimately lead to our success.”
Haggins said she was “truly thankful for my coach and my teammates. We came back harder than ever this winter season striving for the number one spot once again and we finally did it! We trusted the process and left it all on the mat with love and passion.”
Krakovsky also added that, “throughout the entire season, our goal was to win counties in order to be back to back champions for the first time in school history and it was such an amazing feeling to achieve our goal! We learned how to come together and work as one instead of as individuals and that was truly the key to our success! We are so excited to continue our season at the regional competition and hopefully make it to the state finals in February!”
Congratulations to this entire team. Truly, Ridge Proud!
