Sipping cocoa on Main Street

Downtown Sykesville has a few events coming up.

The First Friday of every month, participating merchants bring a special treat to their patrons. Bring your sweetheart to shop specials and enjoy treats from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1. Then come back on Saturday, Feb. 9, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., for the second Sykesville Main Street Cocoa Crawl. Patrons are welcome to sip on hot cocoa while walking Main StreeCocoa Crawl commemorative Sykesville mugs are available for purchase while supplies last. Have you ever been interested in beekeeping? Do you have a love of honeybees? If so, then the upcoming 2019 Beginning Beekeepers class is for you. Beginning Wednesday, Feb. 13, from 7 to 9:30 p.m., classes will be held at the Howard County Fairgrounds dining hall (weather permitting), every Wednesday until March 13, with March 20 reserved as a snow date. The sixth meeting day will be held as a field day where session participants can sign up to attend a hands-on session in an apiary having an opportunity to observe and assist with a honeybee hive inspection among other opportunities.
