Schools opened on Aug. 28 and the Woodbine community is swinging into its fall rhythms.In that vein, Calvary Lutheran Church in Mt Airy announces that Sunday, Sept. 11, is Rally Day when new Sunday School classes begin with everyone gathering in the sanctuary at 10 a.m. for the opening with songs and blessings. It is also the blessing of the back packs which will be done at each service —9 a.m. is contemporary service and 11 a.m. is traditional service.Adults are invited to bring their brief cases and other carry cases for the blessings.This is a very special Sunday with new beginnings.
Calvary also announces that on Mondays at 10 a.m. and Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. beginning Sept. 12 and 14, its adult education classes resume.World religions is the topic.In our ever increasingly diverse world, it is good to know what other folks believe and how their religions shape their lives. WAC(Wednesdays at Calvary)also beginson Sept. 14 at 6 p.m.This program includes Bible study, games and crafts, as well asCatechism classes for grades 7 and 8. There are opportunities to participate in the youth band, ring handbells or engage in other worship-related activities.
