The River Hill High School music department is delighted to welcome the U.S. Navy Band to Clarksville. The Band will perform in the River Hill auditorium Friday, Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m.
Dec. 2 is also the final date to order fresh citrus from the Music Boosters for delivery in time for the holiday season.
The River Hill orchestra and choir winter concert is set for Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. Dec. 20 will bring "A Night of a Capella" starting at 6:30 p.m.
Parishioners at St. Louis church and school are hosting a few events for the community in the coming weeks. St. Nick Night, a fun family event, is set for Saturday, Dec. 3 from 5-8 p.m. There will be lots of activities for the little ones including Christmas crafts, gingerbread house making, face-painting, yummy treats and visits with St. Nicolas himself. Strolling the halls of the school and shopping the vendors, will help to put you in the Christmas spirit.
St. Louis School will hold an open house for parents of prospective students Wednesday, Dec. 7 from 10-11:30 a.m. Meet administrators, take a parent-led tour, see teachers and students in action at this Blue Ribbon school.
Congratulations to the St. Louis eighth-grade math team on placing first in the annual Good Counsel High School math competition. Marissa DeLuca, Brian Florenzo, Elizabeth Kolb, Sara Minnis, Katherine Sniezek and Zach Schauerman beat out students from 14 other schools from the Archdiocese of Baltimore and Washington.
The St. Louis Church Concert Series will present "Christmas at St. Louis" featuring John Rutter's "Gloria" and "Songs of the Season" Sunday, Dec. 4 at 4 p.m. Enjoy The Monumental Brass Quintet, sopranos Betsy Bates and Berta Sabrio, St. Louis orchestra and choir, organist Larissa Sanders and Director of Music Paul J. Carroll. Admission is free. A reception will follow.
The United Methodist Women of Mt. Zion invite you to a sausage and pancake breakfast with St. Nick Saturday, Dec. 3. Reservations are suggested. Seatings are 8:30-9:30 a.m. and 10-11 a.m. Breakfast is free for children 2 and younger, $3 for children 3-10 and $5 for all others. Take photos with St. Nick. You can enjoy breakfast or lunch with Santa at Claret Hall Sunday, Dec. 4. Breakfast is 9-11 a.m. Santa will arrive at 9:15 a.m. Lunch runs from noon to 2 p.m. Santa arrives at 12:15 p.m. There will be crafts, games and cookie decorating. Tickets for non-River Hill residents are $7 and can be purchased at Claret Hall.

Great Sage restaurant usually has one benefit day each month. In Dec. there will be two benefit days. The Humane Society of the United States will receive 10 percent of sales Sunday, Dec. 4. On Dec. 18, proceeds will go to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
It seems there are laws restricting dental care for veterans based on their condition, in or out of service and income. Many veterans have claimed their attempts to get dental care have been turned down. Instead of waiting for the government to solve the problems, the Academy of Comprehensive Esthetics and former talk show host Montel Williams are taking proactive measures to help provide the needed dental care

Clarksville Elementary sends thanks to all involved with the school's Turkey Trot. It was a gobbling good day. Students ran/walked more than 430 miles. A total of 14 turkeys were donated to Neighbor Network for local food pantries and 42 pies went to lucky students.
