Golf: Teams gearing up for county championship tournament

The county's top boys teams held serve Thursday, with Glenelg and Wilde Lake cruising to easy victories in the final tune-up before next Tuesday's county championship tournament.

Glenelg had all four of its guys score in the 20s in its 90-72 win over Howard. Adam Leake led the way with 24 points, followed by a pair of 23-point efforts from Matt Forester and Steven Segrist. In the loss, Howard's Chris Song had 20 points.

Wilde Lake was playing without its top guy Tyler Silberberg, who was competing at the Mid-Atlantic Amateur. That however didn't stop it from picking up a convincing 85-62 win over Reservoir.

Rafey Iqbal led Wilde Lake's charge with 25 points. Curtis Reybold led the Gators in the loss with 21 points.

Glenelg remains in first place in the standings at 7-0, while Wilde Lake is in second at 9-1. Centennial (7-1), which was idle on Thursday, also has just one loss on the season.
