Field hockey: Glenelg Country wins first conference game

Ellie Mamula scored the lone goal of the game as she tipped in Nicole Rieu's a hard shot from the top of the circle as Glenelg Country defeated Mercy, 1-0, on Wednesday. It was the Dragons' first victory in Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland B Conference play.

Glenelg Country dominated the game, holding a 14-6 advantage in shots on goal and an 18-2 advantage on offensive penalty corners.

"Allie Pickens dominated the field with her strong hits and elite stickwork," said Glenelg Country coach Jessica McAdams. Junior midfield Amy Keth was a major contributor for in midfield transition, the coach added.

Goalie Sarah Bates made six saves to preserve the shutout.

Marriotts Ridge pitches a shutout

Marriotts Ridge notched an 8-0 victory over Hammond Thursday afternoon. Eight different players scored for the Mustangs and five of the goals were assisted.
