Schedule changes: weather causes postponements

Wet field conditions have caused major changes in the Howard County high school sports schedule this weekend. It was announced Thursday afternoon that there will be no games on high school fields through Saturday.

"We're working on rescheduling in all sports," said Carol Feeser, assistant to the county's coordinator of athletics.

Some events have already been changed.

Cross country – Friday's Howard County Invitational at Centennial has been canceled.

JV football – Today's Centennial vs. Glenelg has been canceled and will not be made up at this point.

JV football – Today's Oakland Mills vs. Wilde Lake is postponed until the end of the season.

Varsity football – Saturday's Centennial vs. Glenelg has been moved to Monday, Sept. 12. Time and place to be determined

Varsity football – Friday's Oakland Mills vs. Wilde Lake has been postponed until Monday, Sept. 12 at 3:30. Possibly on a recreation department turf field.

Girls soccer – Saturday's Wilde Lake vs. North Harford is now an away game.

Girls soccer – Glenelg's tournament for Saturday at home has been postponed. The school is looking for an alternate site.

Field hockey – Saturday's Glenelg at South River Tournament is still on.
