Boys soccer: Marriotts Ridge, Wilde Lake earn shutout wins

Having each played a tight game to open the county schedule, Marriotts Ridge and Wilde Lake made things a little easier on themselves Friday night.

Marriotts Ridge, which beat Oakland Mills 1-0 on Tuesday, stayed unbeaten in county play with a 2-0 victory over Glenelg. Wilde Lake, meanwhile, bounced back from its county-opening 2-1 double-overtime loss to Centennial by downing Hammond, 3-0.

The Mustangs got goals from Amir Najib and Brad Martinelli, both in the second half, to pull away from the Gladiators.

Wilde Lake's trio of scores came from three different players, including one on a penalty kick by Matt Flyr. Flyr also added an assist to lead the team with two points on the night.
