For Reservoir, there was no let down.
Just two days after handing River Hill its first county defeat, the Gators returned to action Wednesday and picked up a convincing, 3-1, victory over Oakland Mills.
It took only two minutes for Reservoir to get on the board against the Scorpions and just another seven to increase its lead to 2-0. Cam Britton got things started when he finished off a long throw from Jimmy Rager and then Colin Bonner kept it going with a goal of his own.
"I had said that we needed to set the tone early, because if you get behind against them it can be bad news," said Reservoir coach Paul Linkins.
Reservoir increased its lead to 3-0 before halftime on a goal by Tim Usher. The score was the first of Usher's career.
Oakland Mills did eventually get on the board in the second half when John Joseph finished off a failed Gators' clear.
