Mascaro named schools' chief of staff

The Howard County Board of Education approved the appointment of Susan Mascaro to chief of staff of the Howard County Public School System at its meeting Thursday, Sept. 22.

Mascaro, formerly the system's director of staff relations and chief negotiator, assumes the role left vacant when Mamie Perkins was promoted to deputy superintendent in February.

"Sue brings lots of history with the school system," Perkins said when announcing Mascaro's appointment.

Mascaro began her career in Howard County as a science teacher at Hammond High School. She also has served as assistant principal at Hammond and at Mt. Hebron High School, facilitator for the Office of Professional Development, and manager for the Office of Human Resources.
