Your April 16 editorial about the acrimony in Annapolis was apropos. As a Democrat and an educator myself, I found the unwillingness of the legislature, and especially Speaker Busch, to compromise with the governor quite disappointing.
The governor was elected because of his platform to reduce spending, and I believe even education must be the object of that restraint. The battle cry for ever more money for schools is heard every year. People do have a short memory though: Back in 2008 casino gambling was on the ballot and promised more "money for schools: no new taxes." Well, we have the casinos, and we can all see how that played out.
