Those in health care's trenches doing commendable work

I recently found myself in Howard County General Hospital's emergency room. As a lifelong county resident, I am familiar with the ER and the volume of patients that fill the lobby each day. During my wait to be treated I saw a neighbor who need to be treated for multiple bee stings and a customer coming in to deliver his first child. I spent the next eight hours being diagnosed to rule out different causes for my condition and was ultimately admitted for a severe infection to my knee and leg.

From the minute I stepped into HCGH I came in contact with very dedicated professionals bent on healing their charges. Day shift, night shift, doctors or nurses, the hospital provided care that was first class. Health care is in national debate, but we all need to step back and put names and faces on the front-line soldiers that take care of us and appreciate the system we have. As Howard County residents, we should be proud to have such a great facility and staff in our midst.
