Wrestling: River Hill defeats Fallston, 51-19

River Hill, one of three undefeated teams along with Glenelg and Reservoir in the Howard County league, improved to 9-2 Thursday night with a 51-19 win over Fallston. The Hawks received five wins by forfeit and got pins from Casey Guthier (152) and Jason Johnson (285).

Around the league

Mt. Hebron fell into an early 18-0 hole against visiting Tuscarora after consecutive pins by Austin Wenzlaff (170), Marshall Porter (182) and Jordan Willis (195) and never recovered in a 57-21 loss. The first six bouts of the match resulted in pinfalls, four for the Titans and two for the Vikings, and in all, 12 of the 14 contests ended without going the distance. Ryan Hassan (220), Jeff Hayden (106) and Joe Kendrick (145) scored 18 of the Vikings' 21 points with their pins, while freshman Connor Strunk (126) won a hardfought, 7-2, decision for the other three. Strunk and Kendrick remain undefeated on the season, each at 6-0, and the four victorious Vikings from Thursday night are a combined 21-2 on the season.
