Rec sports: SAC girls squad wins title at August Cup

The SAC Premier White team won the U9 Girls Challenge division championship at the 11th Annual August Cup Soccer Tournament with a perfect 3-0 record. The team scored 16 goals, while only allowing one. The tournament took place Aug. 24-25 at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Germantown.

There were 63 runners that came out to participate in the final weekly series race of the summer hosted by the Howard County Striders. The 5k course was the graduation event for the zero to weekly beginner running program; congratulations to these finishers. Race winners Karsten Brown and Marsha Demaree are the proud owners of course records due to the new course layout. Series point qualifiers were given fuel belts.

The Free State Seniors 2013 President's Cup Tournament was held on Aug. 19 at Cross Creek Country Club.
